About Us

His House Worship Center is a family where love has no limits, service has no boundaries, and the Gospel transforms lives one household at a time. For 15 years, we’ve been a place where people find hope, healing, and a home in Christ.

Our Story

Building on the Foundation

His House Worship Center was born from a divine promise. In September 2010, after prayerful contemplation, the Lord gave then-Elder Tish Atkins Bryant the foundation scripture for this ministry: Psalm 127:1 – “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” This became more than a verse; it became our covenant. God would give guidance, and we would move in obedience to Him.

From this foundation, HHWC began with monthly “Open House” services at the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA and weekly “Real Talk from the Word” Bible studies at the Young Life Center, both in Largo, FL. In February 2011, Pastor Bryant and HHWC were released into full-time service by Apostle Edgar B. Johnson, Sr. of First Pentecostal Community Church in Calumet City, IL.

A Journey of Faithfulness

HHWC moved from the YMCA to the Ridgecrest Community Center (now the Tasker Beal, Jr. Service Center) and continued growing until August 2013, when the congregation relocated to a storefront in Seminole, FL. During the 2020-21 pandemic, Dr. Bryant and the congregation collectively agreed to forgo lease renewal of their small Seminole storefront and wait on the Lord for a better location for ministry.

Many churches panicked during this season. We chose to trust. There was concern that we might lose people during that transient time, but we stayed connected through Zoom and continued livestreaming on social media. As time continued, we refined our online worship experience and included our Bible study. Instead of losing people, we gained members! This was a true testament to Psalm 127:1 and Psalm 3:5-6.

After returning to the Tasker Beal, Jr. Service Center for several months, God blessed HHWC with a leased campus in North St. Petersburg in August 2022 – a space 2.5 times larger than our previous location for less rent, secured with a multi-year lease. God’s provision exceeded our expectations.

Meeting Needs, Making Disciples

From the beginning, servant evangelism and outreach have been central to who we are. We pattern our approach after Jesus calling the first disciples in Luke 5:1-11: meet the natural need with the love of Christ, then seek to disciple those who hear. This isn’t just a strategy; it’s our DNA.

Dr. Tish Atkins Bryant and His House serve God’s people in creative, community-focused ways: hosting ice cream socials, conducting prayer walks through Ridgecrest, Seminole, and St. Petersburg neighborhoods, and offering clean family entertainment through our “Soul Café” – an evening of comedy, spoken word, skits, and Christian jazz in a coffee house atmosphere where admission is free and everyone eats.

We’ve supported disaster relief in Haiti, presented biblical principles through “God at the Movies” events, exercised both body and Spirit with Gospel Zumba, and led new believers to Christ through beach baptisms. Our annual Back to School events bring together youth from across the community for free food, gospel music, and giveaways including bikes, Kindle eReaders, and backpacks filled with school supplies.

For nine years, many have been empowered through our Wednesday morning Midweek Power Nugget. Through livestreaming, HHWC extends the Gospel to souls as far as Germany, Costa Rica, and Nigeria.

Raising Up Leaders

Over the years, HHWC has been blessed to license two deacons, four ministers, and ordain one elder. Many have come through HHWC to gain training and equipping before going out to serve in other areas of ministry. HHWC seeks to be a ministry development center for smaller churches and those just beginning in church service, helping them develop skills to operate in excellence.

Looking Ahead

In 2025, HHWC launched our early morning Express Worship Service to serve those who cannot attend church during traditional hours. We implemented our first fully Youth-Led Worship Service, now going strong every 4th Sunday. Our nursing home ministry increased with more members attending monthly and providing Christmas gifts and caroling during the holidays. Through our school adoption at Disston Academy, we increased our holiday basket donations by 50% from the previous year.

Our vision is clear: enlarge heaven by continuing to reach those in our community through outreach. We’re raising funds to rebuild the playground on our campus and plan to launch an after-school program in late 2026 or early 2027. We’re also reviving Soul Café, bringing back the clean entertainment and community connection that marked our early days.

We don’t just attend church – we ARE the church. We are building in obedience so that we will be the Church that Christ comes back for as noted in Matthew 24:30-31. And as God speaks, HHWC will do (Exodus 24:7).
